Report: Draxler Not Interested in Leaving PSG to Sign With Zenit Saint Petersburg

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler could end up staying with the club after all.

Draxler has no interest in signing with the Russian Premier League side Zenit Saint Petersburg, according to a report from Germany’s Sky Sport.

Draxler was just recently linked with Zenit for a possible transfer move. Zenit was reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign the talent, but of course, the club also needs to convince Draxler to leave PSG for a new challenge in the Russian Premier League. The Sky Sport report also alludes that Zenit is aggressively pushing to sign Draxler away from PSG.

Still, Zenit’s attempt to sign Draxler may be all for nothing, as the German talent has no desire to leave PSG over the current transfer window. He aims to play out his contract and become a free agent next year. As a result, PSG is now slated to lose Draxler on a free transfer next year.

With the current transfer window set to close in early October, Draxler could still change his mind and push for a departure from PSG. But at the moment, all signs point to him staying with the club for this season.
