Report: Draxler Missed PSG’s Ligue 1 Opener Against Lens Due to Injury

When Paris Saint-Germain announced the official starting 11 for its Ligue 1 opener against RC Lens, there was one player who was notably a surprise omission. Julian Draxler was left out of the squad due to a right adductor injury that he suffered during training on Wednesday, according to a report from Le Parisien.

The report mentions that Draxler had felt a “small contracture” over in his right adductor during the team’s final training session ahead of its fixture against Lens. The injury is not deemed to be serious, but the club decided to keep him out of the squad as a precaution. It is unclear at the moment on whether the German talent will be available for PSG’s much-anticipated fixture against Olympique Marseille in three days.

As mentioned, Draxler’s injury is not seen as a serious one but it comes at the wrong time for the club considering that the board is currently seeking to find a buyer for him over the ongoing transfer window.

Manager Thomas Tuchel sure hopes to at the least have Draxler back in action soon. Tuchel is facing serious depth issues as seven players are currently out of action due to recent positive coronavirus tests. PSG is currently in the midst of a four fixtures in 10 days run, so the German manager needs as many fit and available players as possible.
