Report: Barcelona Joins PSG in Pursuit of Coveted Arsenal Defender

Paris Saint-Germain has new competition for one promising Arsenal talent. FC Barcelona is showing interest in acquiring Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin, according to a report from the Spanish-based outlet Sport.

Barcelona is open to selling current right-back Nelson Semedo. The Portuguese talent has two years remaining on his current deal, but the Catalan club is eyeing a new right-back to start for the team. Barca is seeking to offload Semedo and use the funds acquired from such a deal to push and complete a transfer move for Bellerin. The report mentions that the club has already reached out to Arsenal sporting director Edu to discuss the potential transfer, but the club is not yet close to signing the Spanish talent.

As mentioned, PSG is also showing great interest in signing Bellerin. According to a recent report from the English-based outlet Football London, PSG is keen on pursuing Bellerin. The Sport report mentions that a Bellerin deal could cost an estimated €25 million, which very likely may fit in PSG’s current budget plans for the ongoing summer transfer window.

PSG is in need of another right-back to give competition to current talents Thilo Kehrer and Colin Dagba. Kehrer featured in the team’s UEFA Champions League knockout stage run in August, but it seems as if the club is eyeing a more experience right-back for the starting role there.
