PSG Manager Tuchel Hopes Club Will Add More Signings Before Transfer Window Closes

Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel continues to be outspoken regarding his hope that the club will reinforce the team with more signings over the current transfer window.

It has been evident that PSG is in dire need of reinforcements. Just this year, the club has lost eight players via transfer or loan moves, including four talents who were first-team regulars from last season. Most notably, PSG legends Edinson Cavani and Thiago Silva departed from the club after their contracts had expired earlier this summer. So far, PSG sporting director Leonardo has not yet filled the depth void created from their departures.

Tuchel is well-aware that his side is lacking in a few areas in regards to depth. In his pre-match press conference (via L’Equipe) for Wednesday’s fixture against Metz, Tuchel was once again open about his hope that the club will add a few signings soon, especially in two key positions.

“Yes, we are looking for a central defender or a midfielder, or even both,” Tuchel said. “We have lost four players and we have recovered Florenzi so far. So yes we have to recruit, especially if we want to accomplish our goals.”

As Tuchel mentioned, right-back Alessandro Florenzi from AS Roma has been the club’s lone new addition for the upcoming season. The current transfer window closes in three weeks, so Leonardo has work to do in regards to shoring up depth concerns.
