As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP) couldn’t go all out on their farewell to former Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva.
During their friendly matches in preparation for the UEFA Champions League’s resumption, the ultras did display their appreciation for the 35-year-old. Still, there’s only so much you can do with the health protocols in place.
Nonetheless, the CUP decided that even though Silva has moved on to Chelsea FC, that they’d send one last thank you to O Monstro in front of the Eiffel Tower, the city’s most recognizable monument.
Silva took to Twitter to thank the ultras.
“The situation was complicated, so it was important to win tonight. It’s hard, we created chances, we are not 100%, if we had scored in the first half, it would have been easier, but we had to work hard to win,” Silva said.
J’ai été très touché par cet hommage, merci ! Paris et la France resteront pour toujours dans mon cœur, des joyeuses années vécus là bas. pic.twitter.com/qxp8WfwHP3
