Paris Saint-Germain picked up a crucial 3-0 win against OGC Nice, and for one player, in particular, this fixture was a special one. Midfielder Marco Verratti played in his 318th career game for PSG in all competitions, which tied goalkeeper Bernard Lama for the fifth-most appearances in the club’s history.
In typical Verratti fashion, he played in all 90 minutes of the fixture against Nice while completing 110 passes and recording eight long balls completed. He was pivotal for PSG in the team’s much-needed away win.
For Verratti, PSG fans are sure to continue to see more of these performances from him as he gradually climbs the ladder in PSG’s all-time appearances list. Jean-Marc Pilorget is the all-time leader in appearances for PSG with 435. At this rate, Verratti is sure to reach the number if he prolongs his stay with the club and can avoid long-term injuries.
But for now, Verratti has a chance to end the season third on this list as he is currently 27 appearances away from passing both Safet Susic and Paul Le Guen, who are tied at third with 344 games played for PSG.
