Paris Saint-Germain has had a complete stronghold on Ligue 1 over the past decade. The club has won seven of the last eight league titles and remains favorites to win it all yet again this upcoming season.
One team that could pose a challenge to PSG is Olympique Lyonnais. While the team finished seventh in Ligue 1 play this past season, Lyon has looked like an almost completely different side under current manager Rudi Garcia. Lyon exemplified how well it can match up against the top teams in Europe when it eliminated both Juventus and Manchester City in this past season’s UEFA Champions League competition.
Still, one current Lyon talent thinks PSG remains the overwhelming favorites to add another Ligue 1 title to its trophy case. Jeff Reine-Adelaide spoke to RMC Sport and was asked about Lyon’s chances in the league this season. The French talent gave his honest thoughts on just why PSG is built for another league-winning run.
“You have to be very realistic with that,” Reine-Adelaide said. “It will be very complicated, we all know the value of this team. They have the manpower to hold the whole championship.”
PSG defeated Lyon in all four of their encounters in all competitions last season. Lyon sure has much work to do in order to become serious contenders in Ligue 1.
