‘It’s One of the Most Important Games of the Season’ — Kimpembe on Fixture Against Marseille

After the tough loss against RC Lens in its Ligue 1 opener, Paris Saint-Germain has had to quickly shift gears and focus on preparing for the much-anticipated contest against Olympique de Marseille. This will be PSG’s first home game of the season and a fixture in which the club urgently needs a win in.

PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe certainly knows the importance of the rivalry duel against Marseille. While PSG has dominated the fixture as of late, the tide could switch in this fixture as the club will be short-handed due to the recent coronavirus outbreak within the team. In speaking to PSG TV, Kimpembe previewed the contest and billed it as an early season-defining fixture.

“For me, it’s one of the most important games of the season,” Kimpembe said. “There are a lot of big games, but this one is really one we hold dear. There’s always a special atmosphere around these games. We’re a great team with great players, despite the absences, and we hope to win. We’ll be ready for tomorrow.”

Kimpembe could be playing alongside the club’s newest player in Alessandro Florenzi in the fixture against Marseille. Kimpembe sure hopes that the Italian defender could be a key x-factor for the club.

“He’s played some big games in his career, but we’re going to explain to him just how important this game is for us,” Kimpembe said. “Everyone wants him to be ready, and I’m sure the staff will do everything for that. He’s going to contribute his experience and tactical nous to us. He’s got a very good profile.”

A win can help turn the tide for PSG after the shock loss to Lens.
