After a short wait, Alessandro Florenzi is finally now a member of Paris Saint-Germain. The club announced the loan move on its official website. PSG and AS Roma agreed on a one-year loan deal for the talent that includes an option to buy as well.
For Florenzi, this will be a new challenge in his career. The defender has never played in Ligue 1 before, but he does bring in notable experience from his time in Serie A and La Liga. Florenzi is certainly ready to get going with the club. In his first interview with PSG TV, Florenzi talked about just what this move means for him at this point in his career and what he is looking to achieve while at the club.
“I am very emotional, I am here with a huge desire to achieve great things, I will try to help the team to do as well as possible,” Florenzi said. “It’s the most important move of my career.
“The collective objectives will be to help the team to win as often as possible, match after match,” Florenzi said. “And my personal objectives, are to show the coach on a daily basis that I can earn a place for myself in the team.”
Florenzi closely watched PSG last season and was thoroughly impressed with the team’s deep run in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage.
“Last season, the team stepped up another level again, and the club continues to grow and make its place in the world,” Florenzi said. “This year, you have to admit, everyone could see that they lost the Champions League by the smallest of margins. They did everything very well, but it came down to that little something. But next season, we will try to do even better.”
Florenzi will be sure to get his opportunities with the club over this season.
