Paris Saint-Germain defender Juan Bernat suffered one of the worst injuries in sports earlier this month when he was diagnosed with a torn ACL in his left knee. Bernat was on the wrong end of this injury during the team’s league fixture against Metz. This is all unfortunate, as the Spanish defender had emerged as one of the most in-form players for PSG over the past month.
Bernat knew right away that he had suffered a serious injury during the second half of the fixture. He talked to the Spanish-based station Onda Cero about his initial thoughts on the injury.
“I already noticed that something very serious had happened,” Bernat said. “I felt a lot of pain and quickly noticed that it was going to the knee. It was a shame.”
Bernat is now in the recovery phase of his injury, as he has already undergone reconstructive surgery on his left knee. With an injury as severe as a torn ACL, Bernat will be sure to remain patient along the way in rehab in order to possibly come back fully fit and ready to feature for the team again this season.
