Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe made his long-awaited return to action with the club during the team’s 3-0 away win against OGC Nice. Mbappe was among the standouts for the club as he scored a goal, completed six dribble attempts and recorded a tackle. Nice had a difficult time containing his presence on the flanks.
Former French international Frederic Piquionne watched the contest and was impressed with Mbappe’s performance against a top half of the table Ligue 1 side. Piquionne believed that Mbappe was the x-factor for the team in the win. In speaking to RMC Sport’s After Foot show, Piquionne lauded Mbappe for his dominant showing.
“Mbappe is the lethal weapon of Paris Saint-Germain,” Piquionne said. “We saw it right away: every time we touched it, it made a difference in depth. I do not see how we can say that Kylian Mbappe is not the best player on the pitch this Sunday against OGC Nice. It is very, very strong what he did.”
Considering that it was his first fixture for the club since the UEFA Champions League final last month, Mbappe showed that the club did not have to be concerned about any rust or fitness level issues with him. Mbappe will be sure to repeat his showing against Nice in the team’s upcoming fixture against Stade de Reims.
