Paris Saint-Germain suffered a major blow on Wednesday when Juan Bernat left its fixture against Metz during the second half. The club confirmed on Thursday that Bernat suffered an ACL injury during the contest.
Before he suffered the season-ending injury, Bernat was enjoying his best period at PSG. He was among the team’s top performers over last season’s UEFA Champions League knockout stage and seemed like a likely candidate to receive a contract extension offer from the club. Now, Bernat has to deal with the long and grueling recovery program that will come following surgery on his left knee.
Bernat is optimistic about his upcoming rehab process.
On his official Instagram account, Bernat posted a message speaking on his injury, and he also thanked the fans for their support. The message read, “Unfortunately today it was confirmed that I have a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in my left knee. Injuries are part of our profession and must be dealt with in the best way. That is why from today I only think about recovering as soon as possible and being back with my teammates. Thank you all very much for your messages of support!!”
PSG has not yet released the official timetable as to when Bernat could possibly return to action with the team.
