Atlético Madrid Sporting Director Names PSG as One of the Clubs Interested in Colombian Right-Back

Santiago Arias is reportedly departing Atlético de Madrid due to the little interest that coach Diego Pablo Simeone has in the 28-year-old with Kieran Trippier taking over the right-back position.

The Colombian international made 18 appearances for Los Colchoneros, and so he’s an expendable piece for the Spanish club, who might be looking to sell him to fund a future purchase.

German media outlet Kicker relayed the words from Atlético sporting director, Andrea Berta, who stated, “We are talking to Roma, Everton, and PSG, but not to Leverkusen.” Nonetheless, Kicker adds that by Atlético denying the interest by Bayer 04 Leverkusen, it could be a negotiating bluff.

Regardless, Atlético is looking to sell, and the reported fee they want is between €10-million and €12-million. Furthermore, Los Colchoneros don’t need the sum immediately. “A loan deal with an obligation to buy after ten uses is possible,” Berta said.

For those wondering what type of right-back Arias is, Kicker adds that the Colombian international will help with a good build-up; however, he isn’t one that will put a cross into the box or an assist.

With Thilo Kehrer wanting more time at central defense, Arias makes sense PSG wants someone behind Alessandro Florenzi.
