RB Leipzig advanced to the UEFA Champions League semifinals for the first time in club history after clinching an upset 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid in the quarterfinal round. The Bundesliga side pulled through in what was its biggest win in years. Now comes a new challenge against Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinal round.
For Tyler Adams, this will be a grand test for him and his side. He knows that PSG will present a difficult challenge on the pitch, especially since it has world-class talents Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. In an interview with ESPN, Adams lauded the two PSG talents and their winning experience.
“Of course you can say those names and you think of the individual talent that they have and what they’ve done and achieved already, both of them, at such a young age, winning World Cups, winning the Olympics,” Adams said.
Adams is in awe of the talent of these two world-class forwards but is confident that his side will do just enough to contain them.
“How you stop that?” Adams said. “I don’t think there’s a written game plan to how you can stop Neymar or Mbappe, but I think that we’re confident in our defensive abilities, we’re confident in our team’s ability, so we know that we have to go out there and continue to fight for each other because that’s what makes us so good.”
Mbappe may be slated to start against RB Leipzig, so the challenge will be even more arduous for Adams and his side.
