After Paris Saint-Germain fell 1-0 to FC Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League final, the capital club captain Thiago Silva confirmed that he would be departing the club.

However, at his end of the match press conference where L’Equipe relayed his comments, manager Thomas Tuchel hopes he can convince PSG sporting Leonardo to extend the 35-year-old. The German manager stated that he would do everything to persuade Leonardo and others that having Silva is what’s best for the club.

“I have to speak with Leonardo. It was a pleasure to have a captain with such a personality. Its quality is exceptional. He extended for two months. He left his body, his energy. He gave everything to win this tournament. He would have deserved to win this Champions League. I am proud to have had Thiago as captain,” Tuchel said.

“We are going to speak with the club, with him, to clarify the situation and to continue. Whatever the decision, it will be in my heart. It was amazing to have him by my side.”

The Brazil international is currently drawing interest from Chelsea FC in the Premier League and Serie A with AFC Fiorentina, who are looking to bring in Silva for the 2020-21 season.
