Video: Thomas Tuchel on the Status Verratti and Navas, What He Expects From the PSG Squad, and Preparing for Bayern Munich

Ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League final against FC Bayern Munich, Thomas Tuchel spoke with the media where Canal Supporters relayed his words.

One of the first questions he answers is over the status of Marco Verratti and Keylor Navas.

“Marco (Verratti) and Idrissa (Gueye) are on the pitch, available. Keylor (Navas) will give it a try today. It will be black or white, nothing else. No gray. A risk of starting Verratti? The injury was a blow. It was not muscular. The risk is not great,” Tuchel said. “Of course, he will not be able to play 120 minutes, but he is ready to play, we will decide tomorrow morning if he starts. He is able to play. He feels good. He is available.”

Next was a question on what Tuchel expects from his squad, and despite this Champions League final is the first in club history, there are players with experience playing in this match.

“Tomorrow, we expect a match with a lot of intensity. Navas’ experience? Yes, we are talking about it. Others have experience like Neymar or Angel (Di Maria),” Tuchel said. “Bayern have more experience. But I don’t think it will be decisive. We have confidence. Playing a good game is the challenge; we’re ready for that.”

Finally, Tuchel touches on how he’s preparing Les Parisiens to take on a difficult opponent in Bayern Munich.

“We always respect our opponent. I always give offensive and defensive solutions to the players. It will be difficult tomorrow. Bayern have won their last 20 matches. But there are always spaces to be found. It’s a final. You have to find a good mix between freedom in your game and adaptation to the opponent. It’s a game not for big changes, just for details,” Tuchel said.

“We will not change the preparation. Yesterday, we showed pictures. We did tactical training. The session today is for the routine. We are not going to work tactically. It is to have good feelings. Now is not the time to change things; we must not distract the players.”
