In preparation for Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League semi-final against RB Leipzig, manager Thomas Tuchel spoke with the media, where Canal Supporters relayed his comments.
One of the questions that the media asked was over Neymar Jr., who assumed the role of a leader in the latter part of the 2019-20 season. However, for Tuchel, the 28-year-old has always been one of the leaders in the clubhouse.
When the German manager arrived in Paris two seasons ago, Tuchel noticed the leadership qualities in the Brazil international.
“He has always been a leader in the field, even when I arrived. He is a leader by his quality but also his confidence. He always wants to win, thanks to his ability to fight. We created a group with Ander (Herrera), Pablo (Sarabia), Keylor (Navas), and all the new ones who arrived,” Tuchel said. “They are guys who know how to live together and create a good atmosphere. And it is thanks to this that Neymar gives himself so much on a field, because it is a collective. We are happy to have created this atmosphere.”
