Paris Saint-Germain’s semi-final match against RB Leipzig could’ve been Thiago Silva’s last match with the club. However, with Les Parisiens winning, the 35-year-old’s career with PSG will come to an end in the UEFA Champions League final.

Silva took to the microphone where Canal Supporters relayed his words.

One of the first questions that the Brazilian answered was on reaching the final after years of Champions League disappointment.

“ It was not easy at all. There were very difficult times. But today, we deserved to be in the final . I am very happy with my team, especially the behavior we had today,” Silva said. “We tried to play until the end without conceding a goal, it’s important for us, because in front of us we know that we are very strong. It’s historic, but it’s not the end, there is still one game. We have to celebrate because we deserve it, but we also have to rest for Sunday, which will not be an easy match.”

The Brazil international then talked about the final being his last match in PSG’s colors.

“I prefer not to talk about this topic at the moment because it will not help us. But for now, yes, it will be my last match, and I hope we can celebrate this last match together with this title,” Silva said. “I came in 2012 for this objective. This year, we managed to reach the final, now we have to deserve to win. It doesn’t matter to me who we’re going to face in the final. But I think it will be a complicated game for Bayern against Lyon.

With Silva displaying that he has something left in the tank, the 35-year-old discussed the potential for a contract extension.

“I have already said several times before what I wanted to do. I said I wanted to end up here in Europe, but the decision was made,” Silva said. “Now I have peace of mind because I know how much I can still give for this team. If it’s not here, it will be at another club. Frankly, my heart will always stay here. Once you’re Red and Blue, you stay that way for life.”

Finally, PSG’s captain touched on the preparation they’ll have for Sunday’s Champions League final.

“ We have to continue with this mentality, as the coach said. We are preparing well. The players are professional. After the pandemic, we did something extraordinary because it was not easy,” Silva said. “I think the club that wins this Champions League will be the most important team because everyone will remember that. Our first objective was to qualify for the final. Now we will have to prepare well for Sunday because there will be a great game ahead.”
