Keylor Navas missed Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-0 victory over RB Leipzig due to a torn hamstring that he sustained against Atalanta BC. In Navas place for the UEFA Champions League semi-final against the German club was Sergio Rico.
With little playing time, the Spain international needed to play a mistake-free match and make saves when they presented themselves. Although Rico isn’t Navas, the 26-year-old does have a Europa League final experience during his time with Sevilla FC.
Rico took to the microphone after the match to discuss his performance where Canal Supporters relayed his words.
“I am very happy and very happy to have had the opportunity to play today. It rewards the daily work; I give everything to each training session, including helping Keylor Navas. I am proud of all the work done this season; I worked all year to take advantage of this moment. There are no words to describe how I feel. Everyone is happy. Everyone deserves it when you see the work done this year,” Rico said.
“The superiority of PSG was total both in terms of possession and opportunities. PSG have been above Leipzig. With the intensity that we put on, it’s difficult to pose problems for ourselves. I don’t know how it’s going to be for Sunday. We’ll see what Keylor is in, but I am ready to play.”
