Marquinhos joined Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel on the podium ahead of their match against Atalanta BC. Canal Supporters relayed the comments made by the 26-year-old where he spoke about the new UEFA Champions League format.
When the European competition relocated to Lisbon, Portugal, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, one of the changes made was the elimination of the two-leg system. Instead of having an aggregate score over two fixtures, the tournament now mirrors the knockout format in international competitions, which means single-game elimination matches.
Despite the variables in that type of match, Marquinhos likes that format.
“I like this kind of match where you have to give your all and have a good strategy. We have to be present in this kind of fight. We are ready with the team. We must do everything to not have any regrets after the game,” Marquinhos said. “You have to play 90 minutes like warriors and give your all. We have to put everything we have at our disposal to play a great game and go to the semi-finals.”
