Video: Marquinhos Discusses Taking Over the Captaincy Reigns

Thiago Silva will be departing Paris Saint-Germain at the end of their UEFA Champions League campaign this month. With the 35-year-old leaving behind the captain’s armband, it’s all but assumed that Marquinhos will take over the captaincy reigns for his countryman.

Although Marquinhos is the vice-captain, the armband is something he doesn’t look for and believes it’s a natural process. In a recent interview with Globo Esportethe 26-year-old gives his response on potentially taking over as captain.

“It’s not something I’m looking for. I think it has to happen naturally, ” Marquinhos said. “It would be an honor. But our captain is still Thiago Silva. I am a vice-captain, and I try to help as much as possible.”
