After Paris Saint-Germain fell 1-0 to FC Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League final, capital club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi took to the microphone with RMC Sport to discuss the loss.
It’s evident that after falling short of winning the Champions League, the moral is that of sadness and disappointment. Nonetheless, Al-Khelaifi states that he’s proud of the squad despite the loss.
“Of course, we are sad, but we have done a lot of positive things this season. We are in the final. We lose 1-0. Tonight, we can score two or three goals,” Al-Khelaifi said. “This match was very close, but in the end, we lost. We know that the Champions League is not easy, but I’m very proud of my players, we had a great season, a good tournament here.”
“Nobody saw us in the final . We were close to winning, we didn’t do everything to win, but it’s football, we accept,” Al-Khelaifi said. “We will work next season to try to win this Champions League because that is our goal. We are very, very close to win. Anyone can come out with their heads held high. The players have achieved something together.”
Furthermore, the 46-year-old added that the Ligue 1 champions will do everything possible to win the Champions League trophy.
“I congratulate Bayern Munich for having a great game. They are one of the best teams in the world. We need a little detail to win it. It was our first final, the 11th, for Bayern,” Al-Khelaifi said. “We had a great season with four trophies and a Champions League final. But everyone is disappointed, that’s normal, but we have done a lot of positive things. I’m sorry for our supporters. We’re going to work together. We will do everything to win this trophy.”
