After weeks of being sidelined due to injury, Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe made his return to action on Wednesday. With PSG down 1-0 in its UEFA Champions League quarterfinal duel against Atalanta, manager Thomas Tuchel decided to sub in Mbappe for second half action.
Mbappe had not played in a fixture since the Coupe de France final last month. During the contest, he suffered an ankle sprain injury after being on the wrong end of a sliding tackle challenge by AS Saint-Etienne defender and team captain Loic Perrin.
It is certainly good news for PSG that Mbappe was able to recover just in time to feature against Atalanta. The team sure does need him to deliver now, as it currently trails 1-0 to Atalanta.
If PSG goes on to mount a comeback against the Serie A side, Mbappe could then be available to start against either Atletico Madrid or RB Leipzig in the semifinal round.
