‘This Game Will Change the Club Forever’ — Former PSG Goalkeeper Bernard Lama on the Club’s Champions League Final

Former Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Bernard Lama is hyping up the club’s upcoming 2020 UEFA Champions League Final fixture against FC Bayern Munich.

PSG reached its first-ever Champions League final after defeating two German teams and one Italian side over the knockout stage. But for the club, the job is not done yet. The final against Bayern will be a landmark contest for the club. In an interview with the French publication Le Figaro, Lama hyped up PSG’s upcoming Champions League final contest by saying that the fixture will change the club’s history.

“This game will change the club forever, whatever the outcome,” Lama said. “You are one of the greats, even if you don’t win the game. And if you are the winner, it is even more beautiful.”

Neymar was a key, influential player in the team’s Champions League knockout stage wins against Atalanta and RB Leipzig. However, Neymar did not record a much-desired goal in either contest. Lama talked about Neymar’s recent performances and predicted that the Brazilian will score in the final.

“In the absence of Mbappe and Di Maria, he did the job, in front,” Lama said. “He started from further towards the goal. And there was pressure on him. He will score in the final.”

Bayern will be the toughest tactical challenge for Thomas Tuchel in his PSG managerial career. Lama is well aware of Bayern’s prowess and he talked about what will be key for PSG in the final.

“Efficiency,” Lama said. “There will be opportunities and scoring chances, we must not miss them. PSG are the only team that presents three individual threats in attack, which can play collectively; Mbappe, Neymar and Di Maria work together.”
