Report: Source Close To the Emir of Qatar States It’s ‘Too Early To Know’ on PSG’s Pursuit of Messi

Forty-eight hours ago, Lionel Messi announced that he would be departing FC Barcelona and taking on a new challenge for the 2020-21 season. The announcement put the football world upside down.

When the news broke, it became clear that his relationship with Pep Guardiola, that Manchester City would be one of the favorites to land Messi. However, other clubs are looking to land the 33-year-old.

Another option aside from City is Inter Milan. Then there’s Paris Saint-Germain, who are reportedly monitoring the situation and Neymar Jr. perhaps trying to convince his former Barca teammate to head to Paris.

Nonetheless, if the capital clubs do indeed make an offer to Messi and his representatives, there’s no doubt that Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani who is the Emir of Qatar and owner of PSG, will have a say on the deal.

According to Le Parisien, a source close to the Emir of Qatar stated that it’s “too early to know” to assume whether he will give the green light in pursuit of Messi.

With the Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé needing new deals, perhaps he will want to see those deals get done before thinking of the Argentina international.
