Sergio Rico extended his loan for two months to stay with Paris Saint-Germain and be apart of the capital club’s UEFA Champions League run.
However, the 26-year-old knows that he will have to be thinking about his future relatively soon. The Spain international didn’t impress in his loan stint, and as a result, Les Parisiens will not be exercising their option to on Rico.
Therefore, the goalkeeper will be looking for a new home for the 2020-21 season, and he could land in Italy once the Champions League campaign wraps up. According to Il Messaggero, Lazio is showing interest in Rico as the Italian club wants a backup goalkeeper to put behind Thomas Strakosha.
Although it seems as though’s Rico’s time is up with PSG, there is a slight possibility he could stay. The 26-year-old is comfortable in his role as a backup and is close with the squad, which is why the capital club could looking into keeping Rico.
With the coronavirus affecting clubs, perhaps PSG won’t want to spend money on a backup keeper and could work on a loan extension with Sevilla FC.
