Report: PSG Transfer Target Castagne Set to Begin Contract Extension Talks with Atalanta

Paris Saint-Germain may have to erase one promising right-back from its summer transfer wish list.

According to the Italian-based outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport (via TuttoMercatoWeb), Atalanta defender Timothy Castagne and his agent will hold contract extension talks with the club’s board next week. The Serie A side is aiming to come to terms on a new contract with the right-back. Castgane’s current deal is set to expire in 2022.

PSG was one team who had Castagne on its radar. According to the Belgium-based outlet Het Laatste Nieuws, Les Parisiens inquired over the right-back and viewed him as a potential player who could replace Thomas Meunier, who departed for Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund after his contract expired.

PSG will just have to wait and see how contract talks between Castagne and Atalanta unfold. If the two sides end discussions without a deal in place, PSG could re-enter into the Castagne sweepstakes.
