Report: PSG Showing Interest in Valencia Forward

Paris Saint-Germain is showing an early interest in Valencia forward and Spanish international Rodrigo, according to a report from Le10Sport. Leonardo has reportedly reached out to Valencia to request information on the forward. Still, the interest has remained at this point as there have been no reports of PSG engaging in serious transfer talks with Valencia for Rodrigo.

The 29-year-old recently finished up his sixth season with Valencia. He has scored 59 goals in all competitions with the club over his tenure thanks to his vital impact in the team’s attack upfront.

Rodrigo could be a part of Valencia’s overhaul plans this summer. Under current owner Peter Lim, the club has already sold midfielder Dani Parejo and defensive midfield talent Francis Coquelin this summer to the stark disapproval of fans. There has been no word on Rodrigo possibly being next but with his current high transfer value, he could be shown the door. The forward is currently on a contract that runs up until 2022.

Rodrigo is the latest name to be linked to PSG as it looks for forward depth. The club has already lost Edinson Cavani and will lose Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting later this month as well. PSG’s board decided not to renew the contracts of both forwards, thus making them free agents this summer.

With PSG seeking to replace both forwards, look for the club to show interest in other goal-scoring talents as well.
