Aside from declining contract extensions and exercising the option to buy on Mauro Icardi, all remains quiet with Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo.
Nonetheless, the midfield is one of the positions that the Brazilian would like to improve this summer. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is the name that Leonardo wants, but a move has yet to materialize. However, now with the 2019-20 Serie A season in the books, perhaps talks can pickup.
The Serbia international checks many boxes that Les Parisiens want in a midfielder, but most importantly, he adds the size. At 6’3″, Milinkovic-Savic brings some much-needed height to the midfield. With the lack of height at that position, the reported interest in Thiago Alcântara is a curious one.
According to Abendzeitung München, the Bavarian club is in talks with PSG over the 29-year-old, who would be a cheaper option, and one that manager Thomas Tuchel is familiar with during his time in the Bundesliga. Alcântara comes in at 5’9, so he doesn’t fix the height that Leonardo is looking to address, but this could be a move that Tuchel might want.
