Report: PSG Linked with Lyon Forward Memphis Depay

Olympique Lyonnais forward Memphis Depay is beginning to draw interest from several powerhouse clubs, including one league rival.

According to a report from France Football (via Canal Supporters), PSG is interested in Depay for a possible transfer deal. Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, is the one who is intrigued in potentially signing Depay from his team’s current biggest rivals in Ligue 1. However, there have been no reports suggesting that PSG has already engaged in transfer negotiations with Lyon for a possible Depay acquisition.

As mentioned, Depay is receiving interest from other top clubs. According to a report from the Spanish-based station RAC1 (via AS), new Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman is hoping that his team’s board can go out and acquire Depay. But as with PSG, there have been no reports stating that Barcelona has jump-started transfer talks with Lyon for Depay.

Depay recently responded (via RMC Sport) to the interest of clubs such as Barca.

“I am here at this precise moment,” Depay said. “I can dream of big clubs, we will see what will happen. But for the moment, I am here.”

Depay currently has just one year left on his contract. While Lyon likely may not prefer to sell the Dutch talent to a direct rival, they may be forced to in order to prevent him from leaving on a free transfer next year.
