Report: PSG Hires Renowned Team Doctor From Sevilla FC

Paris Saint-Germain continues to revamp its medical staff as it hired team doctor Juan Jose Jimenez from Sevilla FC, according to Radio Sevilla (via Le Parisien).

Jimenez spent last season with the reigning Europa League champions as the head doctor for the first-team. In total, Jimenez spent nine seasons at Sevilla, with five of them coming as the head doctor for the club.

Jimenez has been lauded for his work with Sevilla, most notably over the past campaign. For instance, as the Le Parisien report alludes to, Jimenez helped accelerate the recovery process of midfielder Fernando’s abductor injury. The veteran midfielder suffered the injury during a home match against CA Osasuna. He was slated to miss a significant amount of time but wound up returning to action when play resumed following the coronavirus shutdown. He featured in the team’s first game back against Real Betis in La Liga play and managed to not only start the contest but also score a crucial goal in the derby.

Jimenez’s deal with PSG is set for two seasons. He will be working alongside first-team medical staff manager Christopher Baudot, who the team brought in last year.

Injuries are inevitable in football, but PSG sure hopes that Jimenez will be able to help in shortening the recovery time of any significant ailments.
