Report: PSG Aiming to Sell Draxler This Summer

Paris Saint-Germain is aiming to sell current midfielder Julian Draxler this summer, according to a report from Le Parisien.

PSG likely will be in for a busy upcoming month with the second transfer window of the year now currently open. While PSG has many key priorities to address, the club’s board is also hoping to offload Draxler. The Le Parisien report mentions that PSG is pushing to sell the German talent before the window closes. However, Draxler may not be all-in to leaving the club as the report also states that the midfielder still likes featuring for PSG.

Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin has been the only team to have been reported to show any recent moderate interest in acquiring Draxler. According to a July report from Germany’s Sky Sport, Hertha pondered over going out to acquire Draxler but decided to halt its pursuit because of financial implications. Hertha is not currently interested in bringing on a €20 million worth talent who is on the final year of his contract.

Draxler dwindled down his transfer value following a difficult recent campaign. Draxler failed to score a goal in any of his 22 appearances for the club this past season and also did not notch a goal contribution in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage. The German talent also dealt with injuries over the campaign, such as with his foot injury that kept him out of 11 games.

The total cost for any possible Draxler transfer deal would not be as high as compared to if he had multiple years left on his current contract.
