Premier League side Chelsea is in discussions with Paris Saint-Germain defender and soon-to-be free agent Thiago Silva for a two-year contract deal, according to Sky Sport’s Fabrizio Romano.
Just a few days ago, Romano reported that Silva’s agent had offered the Brazilian defender to Chelsea. Since Silva will become a free agent following the 2020 UEFA Champions League Final, Chelsea would not have to deal with posting a transfer fee to acquire him.
Now, further details have emerged on Silva’s possible next destination. In speaking to CBS Sports HQ, Romano mentioned that talks between Silva and Chelsea have accelerated to the point where now a two-year contract is an option on the table.

Romano adds that there is a “strong possibility” that Silva will end up joining Chelsea. The Premier League club is set to receive a final answer from Silva on this matter this week. This move is close to coming to fruition because the Brazilian defender is intrigued by the idea of taking on a new challenge in the Premier League.
For now, Silva is focused on PSG’s upcoming Champions League final clash against FC Bayern Munich.
