Former Paris Saint-Germain forward and current free agent Edinson Cavani has been linked with multiple teams over the past months, but there is one club that he will not consider moving to. According to a report from Sky Sport‘s Gianluca Di Marzio, Cavani has received interest from Juventus FC, but he is not all-in to such a move because of his previous ties with the Italian side Napoli.
Cavani wants to remain loyal to his former club Napoli by thwarting away interest from Juventus. The Uruguayan forward spent three prolific seasons with Napoli. He scored over 30 goals in each of the seasons and helped the side win the 2011-2012 Coppa Italia, which included a victory over Juventus in the final.
Considering just how Napoli fans responded when Gonzalo Higuain left the club in 2016 to sign for Juventus, they surely would not be pleased to see another former top goal-scoring talent join the reigning Serie A champions. Many other big-name forwards would give a resounding approval to joining an attack already featuring Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala. But for Cavani, loyalty to his former club coupled with respect from its supporters seems to be more important.
For the moment, Cavani remains a free agent. Taking into account his high wage demands, it may be quite a while before a team goes all-out to sign the former PSG talent.
