Report: Benfica Agrees to a Contract With Edinson Cavani

Over the last month, the Edinson Cavani to SL Benfica rumors has kept getting louder and louder, especially after the arrival of new manager Jorge Jesus. Now it seems both sides have struck a deal.

According to beIN Sports and CNN journalist Tancredi Palmeri, there’s an agreement between the Portuguese club and the 33-year-old striker. Palmeri tweeted out the information, which included the annual salary of €9 million.

In a recent report by Paris Fans, Cavani was looking to make €12 million per year with Benfica. However, it seems as though they were able to lower his wage base demands by €3 million. Palmeri didn’t include any bonus money or term length.

Nonetheless, if Cavani did agree to a lower salary than he wanted, expect for Benfica to make it up to him by offering a significant amount of money when it comes to bonuses.

On the contract length, the Uruguay international and his representatives were keen on a three-year deal, so information should leak out soon to see if Cavani received his desired contract length.
