Report: Bayern Munich Defender Is on Thomas Tuchel’s Transfer Wishlist

Paris Saint-Germain is in the middle of resuming their 2019-20 UEFA Champions League season. However, capital club sporting director Leonardo and manager Thomas Tuchel need to keep an eye on improving the squad for next season.

According to Sport Bild (via Canal Supporters), the name that seems to be on Tuchel’s transfer wishlist is David Alaba. The 28-year-old is in the middle of negotiations with FC Bayern Munich. Talks are at a standstill due to Alaba looking for an increase in his wages.

The Austria international understands that he has one last big contract while in his prime, so he’s looking to take advantage, but the Bavarian club doesn’t appear to want to meet his asking price.

Furthermore, in an interview with DAZN (via France Football) Bayern Munich honorary chairman Uli Hoeness urged Alaba not to leave, adding that a few million dollars aren’t worth going somewhere else and taking a step backward.

“Leaving might be a step forward for him financially, but it would be a step back in all other areas,” Hoeness said. “I can tell him from my own experience that a million here or there is not that important.”

If Alaba and Bayern remain apart on a new contract, perhaps Leonardo can swoop in with a deal for Alaba and forcing Bayern to sell rather than losing a valuable asset on a free transfer. The 28-year-old can come in as a replacement for Thiago Silva, and therefore, satisfying Tuchel’s request.
