RB Leipzig Sporting Director on Facing PSG in the Champions League Semi-Final

RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krösche spoke with the club’s website on the UEFA Champions League semi-final opponent, Paris Saint-Germain.

The 39-year-old didn’t talk about one individual talent but did touch on the group collectively. Krösche also adds that Les Parisiens players who have speed and can win their one-on-one duels. Despite the abilities of the capital club forward group, Leipzig’s sporting director is eager to see what their squad can do against this type of talent.

“Paris has a very high individual quality. There is no question about that. PSG have many individual players with enormous speed, who are also extremely strong at 1-1 and are always looking for that. But that’s exactly what we’re waiting for games like these, opponents like that. Everyone in the team is looking forward to the semi-finals against Paris, and the boys know that they will deliver a top performance as a collective and that each one has to go to their limits,” Krösche said.

“I am convinced that Julian Nagelsmann will forge exactly the right plan, like that that we can win the game. We will do everything we can to get into the final of the Champions League – we want to reach the final with all our might!”

One of the players on the Leipzig squad that will have to be defending PSG’s forwards is Dayot Upamecano, who received the man of the match against Atlético Madrid. On the ground, the 21-year-old won six of his seven ground duels versus Los Colchoneros.

With a healthy Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Jr., it will be interesting to see if Upamecano can keep those two in front of him. Nonetheless, despite the talent that PSG have, Krösche states that Upamecano is happy to play against Les Parisiens

“Upa played a sensational game against Atlético Madrid. He is an extremely talented and interesting player, and we are happy that he has extended his contract with RB Leipzig and decided to continue on the successful path with us. He is also down to earth, Good boy, who can classify the high media presence around him,” said Krösche.

“You can tell that it was good for him, that his future has now been clarified and he can concentrate fully on football with RB Leipzig. He is like everyone else in Team happy to play against Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals of the Champions League.”
