PSG Moves Into a Tie With Real Madrid in One Key Champions League Goal-Scoring Record

With the 3-0 win over RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League semifinals, Paris Saint-Germain moved into a tie with a European rival on one impressive goal-scoring record. PSG tied Real Madrid for the most consecutive games scoring in the Champions League with 34.

PSG began the goal-scoring streak with its 1-1 home draw against Arsenal back in the 2016-2017 Champions League group stage. Since then, PSG has scored in every one of its Champions League fixtures, which include notching at least one goal in its trio of knockout stage ties this season. The Real Madrid sides from 2011 to 2014 also combined to tally a 34-game scoring streak in this competition until it came to an end in a 2-0 knockout stage loss to Borussia Dortmund.

This stat for PSG is quite impressive considering the teams that it has faced along the way. Teams such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich failed to keep a clean sheet against PSG over this span of matches.

The only other teams to reach a consecutive Champions League games goal-scoring streak of at least 30 games were Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2016-2018 Real Madrid (32) and Lionel Messi’s 2009-2012 Barcelona (30).

With a goal in the upcoming Champions League final against reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, PSG will set a new record for this impressive statistic.
