After losing to Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, Real Madrid’s 2019-20 season came to an end. As a result, Alphonse Areola’s loan stint with Los Blancos is now over.
The 27-year-old is now heading back to Paris Saint-Germain, where he has no future as the starting goalkeeper for the capital club. Nonetheless, don’t expect Areola’s return to last as the France international is looking at other clubs where he will be able to start.
Reports are linking Areola to a move to the Premier League with clubs like Chelsea FC, Arsenal FC, and Newcastle United showing interest. Especially after he purchased a home in London, speculation surrounding his future began to ramp up.
However, a move to England could be on hold as Les Parisiens need a backup for Keylor Navas with Sergio Rico’s loan expiring. Until a PSG can secure another goalkeeper to go behind the 33-year-old, Areola will remain in Paris.
