Lens Manager Franck Haise Says his Club Had No Issue With PSG’s Request to Postpone Ligue 1 Opener

RC Lens manager Franck Haise is disputing any reports of his club having a problem with Paris Saint-Germain’s request to postpone its Ligue 1 opener.

PSG was slated to face Lens in its 2020-2021 Ligue 1 opener on Aug. 29. Since PSG just recently capped off its lengthy UEFA Champions League tournament run, the club requested to postpone its fixture against Lens to give its players more time to prepare for the new season and also to provide them with a much-needed short break. PSG’s request was granted, and the two sides will face off on Sept. 10.

Lens manager Haise had no issue with PSG’s request and completely understood why it wanted to postpone the fixture. He gave his thoughts on this matter during a recent press conference (via Culture PSG).

“I was not surprised by the request from Paris-SG,” Haise said. “We would have been lucky enough to be in the Champions League final in their place, believe me, we would have done the same. Of course, it would have been better to follow up after the Nice match, but we are adapting.

“Me, I do not pay in the theory of the almighty PSG.”

After the contest against Lens, Les Parisiens will have a run of three league fixtures over a seven-day span.
