Paris Saint-Germain is set to take on Ligue 2 side Sochaux in a friendly on Wednesday. PSG will use the contest to remain game-ready for its UEFA Champions League contest against Atalanta next week, while Sochaux is continuing to prepare for the start of league play later this month.
For many Sochaux players, this upcoming fixture will be one to remember as they will face the reigning France top flight domestic treble winners PSG. Sochaux midfielder Florentin Pogba is among those eyeing the friendly. In an interview with Le Parisien, he spoke about the current mindset of facing PSG.
“We’re aware that our opponent is not like the others,” Pogba said. “But for us, it’s still a preparatory match. We know PSG have something to prepare for and I don’t know how the Parisians intend to approach it. We’re going to play a classic friendly game, with the aim of developing the team. That’s what’s most important to us and all the better if they’re such a good opponent.”
Much has been talked about regarding the approach that Sochaux will have for the contest. PSG aspires to finish the contest with no injuries or any issues in regard to health. Pogba mentioned that even if it is still a friendly, it will be physical because of the nature of the game.
“It’s a football match, even a friendly one, and there are contacts,” Pogba said. “We’re still players, it’s sometimes hard to control ourselves in the middle of the action. We all know the risks, but I just think we have to play normally. Everything will be fine.”
The fixture will be held tomorrow at the Parc des Princes.
