For the Paris Saint-Germain first-team players, the recent friendly fixtures were nothing more than just preparation games. The team used these contests as a way to dust off any rust and remain game-ready for key fixtures. But for other players, the friendlies were a way to showcase to the club that they should soon be vying for a spot on the first-team.
Among them, PSG prospect Arnaud Kalimuendo made the most of his playing time over the recent four friendlies. The 18-year-old prospect played in all four of the friendlies, including taking part in the entire 90 minutes of the 1-0 win over Sochaux.
In speaking to PSG TV, Kalimuendo talked about his performance against the Ligue 2 side.
“I’m very satisfied, it’s the first time I’ve played an entire match, and it was a very good experience against Sochaux,” Kalimuendo said.
For the youth prospect, he has enjoyed being around the plethora of world-class talents in the first-team. He mentioned a few in which he is learning from.
“I try to learn on a daily basis from the great players who are present, like Neymar Jr, Kylian Mbappé, Mauro Icardi,” Kalimuendo said.
PSG does not have any more friendlies scheduled, so Kalimuendo will now likely return to feature for the U19 side. Still, he will look to improve upon his play and is also eyeing a first-team call-up.
“Now I hope I can confirm, I know I can do a lot better,” Kalimuendo said.
