After spending his first season with Paris Saint-Germain wearing the number 18 on the back of his jersey, forward Mauro Icardi has decided to pick a new familiar number. On his official Instagram account, Icardi confirmed that he will be going with the number nine jersey for the upcoming season.
Icardiās number change has also been confirmed on PSGās official website.
The last player to wear the number nine jersey for the club was former striker Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan forward became a club legend during his PSG tenure with 200 goals scored and 21 trophies won.
The number was vacant following Cavaniās departure from the club several months ago but now Icardi will be the one boasting it. The Italian forward previously wore the number nine jersey during his time with Inter Milan where he became a top striker in Serie A.
