While playing for Inter Milan, Mauro Icardi had several matches against Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal opponent, Atalanta BC.
Le Parisien highlighted a few matches in which the 27-year-old put the ball in the back of the net versus La Dea. Granted squads change every season.
However, Gian Piero Gasperini was the manager, and perhaps Icardi understands what Atalanta wants to do defensively, which will allow him to take advantage.
The first game that the French media outlet spotlighted was his hat-trick back in 2017. Icardi scored a hat-trick in nine minutes against Atalanta as he helped lead Inter to a 7-1 victory.
Between 2017 and 2018, it seemed as though Icardi enjoyed playing against Atalanta. Eight months later, the capital club’s future striker scored two goals in nine minutes.
Icardi is still trying to find his form as he didn’t score a goal in both domestic cup finals. However, here’s hoping that seeing Atalanta, a club he enjoyed playing against in Italy, helps him find his goal-scoring touch.
