Paris Saint-Germain center-back Thiago Silva has turned back the clock as of late with vintage performances. In the duo of PSG’s domestic cup final wins, Silva was at his usual dominant self as he helped keep both AS Saint-Etienne and Olympique Lyonnais off the scoresheet. In the team’s recent UEFA Champions League knockout stage contests, Silva continued his strong form with a pair of impressive showings.
Silva’s recent performances have received much appreciation from former defenders, such as longtime Italian center-back Alessandro Costacurta. The former Serie A winner has closely watched Silva over the years and is in awe of just how much he has grown as a defender even at this stage in his career. In speaking to Italy’s Sky Sport (via TuttoMercatoWeb), Costacurta lauded Silva for his showing against RB Leipzig and also made mention of the improvements that the Brazilian defender has recently made.
“It was a few years that I hadn’t seen Thiago Silva so well,” Costacurta said. “With Marquinhos in front, he has the ability to always organize himself. Last year he was in trouble, but now he has grown and all PSG has matured too.”
Silva now has one game left in his PSG tenure. Many are hoping that he can end his PSG career with a Champions League final win.
