Former PSG Sporting Director Henrique Says the Club’s Champions League Semifinal Fixture Will Be ‘The Most Important Match in its History’

Former Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Antero Henrique is hyping up the club’s upcoming Champions League semifinal fixture against RB Leipzig.

Henrique is well familiar with many of the players on the team as he helped sign them. Most notably, Henrique signed superstars Neymar and Kylian Mbappe via blockbuster transfer deals.

For Neymar, Mbappe, and the rest of the squad, the upcoming semifinal encounter will be yet another season-defining test.

In speaking to Le Parisien, Henrique billed the contest as “the most important match in its history.” He added by briefly reflecting on the team’s 50-year history and offered congratulations to the team and even the former players who helped make this current Champions League run possible.

“PSG has just celebrated the first 50 years of a life that will always be magical, but the next few days can add a truly unique golden page to this adventure,” Henrique said. “The entire squad in Portugal deserves congratulations and recognition, not forgetting also Cavani and Meunier, who have taken an important part of this journey.”

Even though he is not with the team anymore, Henrique is fully supporting PSG and hopes that the club can pull off the historic Champions League tournament win.

“I will be one more ultra, outside the stadium, with all my energy and the secret wish that my country will be inscribed in golden letters in the life of PSG, its players and its supporters,” Henrique said.

PSG will have the chance to advance to the Champions League final with a win over RB Leipzig in the semis on Tuesday.
