Former Juventus and Italian forward Alessandro Del Piero is ringing his appreciation for the dominant performance from Paris Saint-Germain in its UEFA Champions League semifinal tie against RB Leipzig.
PSG took a stronghold on the game early on with a Marquinhos header goal and never looked back. Les Parisiens added two more goals to clinch the 3-0 win and appearance in the Champions League final. Over the course of the game, RB Leipzig failed to get in any rhythm while on the ball. Meanwhile, the likes of Angel Di Maria and Neymar provided for outstanding attacking performances.
For Del Piero, it was a fixture in which RB Leipzig never had a chance against Les Parisiens. In speaking to Italy’s Sky Sport (via TuttoMercatoWeb), Del Piero spoke about just why it became so effortless for PSG in its landmark semifinal win.
“Today they have a different compactness,” Del Piero said. “The result tonight is determined by the fact that they played at one hundred percent of their possibilities. There was no game tonight. PSG never risked anything behind them, and with the ball they made them tired.”
Since its return to action following the coronavirus shutdown, PSG won both of its domestic cup finals and earned key victories in the Champions League knockout stage. Les Parisiens will aim to top off the season with a Champions League final win next week.
