Former English defender Rio Ferdinand has compared Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe to one all-time legend.
Mbappe showed off his keen on-ball prowess during PSG’s last two UEFA Champions League knockout fixtures. While the Frenchman did not score against both Atalanta and RB Leipzig, his on-ball runs and movement in the penalty box provided for a stout impact in the matches.
Mbappe’s performances as of late have earned appreciation from current and former players, such as Ferdinand. The former Premier League defender is a fan of Mbappe, and he recently (via TuttoMercatoWeb) compared the French international to one Real Madrid icon.
“He is the closest player to Ronaldo I have ever seen,” Ferdinand said. “Watching him play makes you feel like a child watching his first game. It gives you goosebumps before you even hit the ball.”
Mbappe is certainly a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo and was one player who he admired during his childhood. While the two may have somewhat of a similar play style, Mbappe has a long way to go before he can be in the conversation with legends such as Ronaldo.
