Atalanta Manager Hopes Goalkeeper Gollini Can Be Back in Time for Champions League Fixture Against PSG

Injuries just continue to be the talking point for Atalanta as it prepares for the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal duel against Paris Saint-Germain. The Serie A side will likely be without star attacking talent Josip Iličić due to fitness issues. Now, the Italian club might be without its starting goalkeeper.

Pierluigi Gollini left the team’s season finale fixture against Inter Milan after just five minutes due to knee concerns. Atalanta went on to lose to Inter by a 2-0 score, which placed them at third in the final league standings. Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini provided an update on Monday (via RMC Sport) on the goalkeeper’s condition.

“He has a bad bruise on his knee,” Gasperini said. “But at first glance it seems recoverable.”

Gollini has only missed one game all season because of injury; Atalanta was without his services in the 4-3 win against Valencia in the Champions League Round of 16 return leg fixture. Gollini has recorded 10 clean sheets in all competitions this season.

With the UCL tie just nine days away, Atalanta sure does hope that it will have Gollini fit and fully healthy for the contest.
