Atalanta Manager Hopes Goalkeeper Gollini Can Be Back in Time for Champions League Fixture Against PSG

Injuries continue to be the main talking point for Atalanta ahead of its UEFA Champions League quarterfinal duel against Paris Saint-Germain. The Serie A side will likely be without Josip Iličić for the Champions League clash due to fitness issues. The Italian club is also keeping a close watch on the status of its starting goalkeeper.

Pierluigi Gollini left Atalanta’s season finale fixture against Inter Milan after just five minutes due to knee concerns. Atalanta went on to lose to Inter Milan by a 2-0 final score, and it wound up finishing in third place in the final Serie A standings.

On Monday, Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini provided an update (via RMC Sport) on Gollini’s injury.

“He has a bad bruise on his knee,” Gasperini said. “But at first glance, it seems recoverable.”

Gollini has only missed one game this season due to injury; he was sidelined from Atalanta’s 4-3 second leg win against Valencia in the Champions League round of 16.

Overall, Gollini has recorded 10 clean sheets in all competitions this season.
