Atalanta Goalkeeper Gollini Remains Hopeful to Play Against PSG in Champions League Quarter-Final

Atalanta starting goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini is currently sidelined from action due to a slight knee injury that he suffered in the Serie A season finale against Inter Milan. Gollini left the contest early in the first half. Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini described the injury as a “bad bruise on his knee” but called it an injury deemed as “recoverable.”

Gollini is optimistic that he could be back in time for the UEFA Champions League bout against Paris Saint-Germain. He provided an update via his official Instagram account that read, “The trauma caused hyperextension of the posterior cruciate knee. But there are no ligament injuries. And therefore it will be a race against time. We will evaluate day by day. Because warriors don’t give up.”

The Champions League contest between the two teams is scheduled for Aug. 12 from Portugal.
